2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup Update: Gilas Pilipinas vs Senegal Highlights Video

At last Gilas Pilipinas won for the first time in the 2014 FIBA World Cup after 36 years by defeating Senegal by just 2 points, 81-79 in an overtime. Great game by Jimmy Alapag (18 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists) and June Mar Fajardo (15 points and 9 rebounds). Faye led Senegal with 20 points, while NDoye, Dieng and NDour had 13 points apiece.

2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup Update: Gilas Pilipinas vs Croatia Highlights Video

Despite losing to Croatia, Gilas Pilipinas shown big heart when it comes to game. Gilas Pilipinas are small let's be honest but we have full of hearts, guts, and attitude. The Croatian Team won only by 3 points, 81-78 in an thrilling overtime in the first game of 2014 FIBA World Cup. Andray Blatche led Gilas Pilipinas with 28 points and 12 rebounds (3/4 from 3). Gilas Pilipinas National Team will be playing at 2014 Asian Games to be held in Incheon, South Korea. Gilas Pilipinas and Iran are in the same group (Group E) and they will face each other early in the tournament. Group A and Group B teams will play teams in their group once in the 1st round and the top 2 teams from Group A will advance to the 2nd round and will join Group C and D while the top 2 teams from Group B will join Group E and F. Gilas Pilipinas National Team Roster for 2014 Asian Games


Coach Chot Reyes announced via twitter the 12-man Line-up of Gilas Pilipinas for the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. From the Gilas Pilipinas Player Pool, out of the Asian Games line-up are Marcus Douthit, Jimmy Alapag, Beau Belga, Jay Washington and Larry Fonacier (due to an injury).

Gilas Pilipinas Defeats Spanish ACB All-Star Select Team in Tune-up Game


Naturalized center Andray Blatche scored 18 points to lead the Philippine national men’s basketball team to an impressive 89-58 rout of a Spanish pro selection in a tuneup game on Sunday (Monday morning Philippine time) in Vitoria, Spain. Gilas Pilipinas’ opponent was composed of players from the professional basketball league in Spain Liga ACB.

Gilas Pilipinas dominated from start to finish, with Blatche hitting three-pointers and converting on the fastbreak as they opened up a 50-31 lead at halftime. The Filipinos continued their rampage in the second half, especially from downtown as they made 50 percent (13 of 26) of their three-pointers in the game which kept the Spanish at bay. Paul Lee added 10 points, while Jared Dillinger and LA Tenorio chipped in nine and seven markers. Gabe Norwood also scored six points.

PSC Chooses Japeth Aguilar as Flag Bearer in 2014 Asian Games



Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Ricardo Garcia announced that they have chosen Japeth Aguilar of Gilas Pilipinas to be the Flag Bearer of the Philippine contingent in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.

The 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea will be from September 19 to October 4, 2014.

Gilas Pilipinas Wins Second Tune-up, This Time versus NBA D-League Selection



Gilas Pilipinas defeated Elev8, 93-84 in a tune-up game in Miami. The 11-man roster was comprised of NBA D-League talents and players who could find themselves abroad as imports, coached by Cody Toppert, the Director of Basketball Development at Elev8. Elev8 is composed of Cameron Bell, Donnavan Kirk, Kenny Kadji, Tola Akumalaf, George Naldjieff, Waverly Austin, Khyle Marshall, Ivan Aska, Drew Smith, Brian Asbury and Frank Gaines. Most of the Elev8 players played in the NBA D-League and Top College Teams in the US.
