The injury bug has
bitten Jose Aldo once again.
According to a report on UFC Tonight, the featherweight has pulled out of his UFC 176 title defense against Chad Mendes due to an undisclosed ailment. A new main event for the Aug. 2 card has yet to be announced. UFC 176 takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and includes a middleweight co-feature between Gegard Mousai and Ronaldo Souza.
Aldo, 27, last competed at UFC 169 in February, when he took a five-round decision over Ricardo Lamas. The Nova Uniao standout first faced Mendes at UFC 142, winning via knockout 4:59 into the opening round. Mendes has won five straight fights since that setback, including triumphs over Darren Elkins, Clay Guida and Nik Lentz.
