UFC's Jon Jones Responds to Chris Weidman's 'Awesome' Request for Championship Super Fight: Absolutely!

Be careful what you wish for.
What a difference a couple of months (and one big win) can make.
Not that long ago, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones said there wasn't anything super about a fight against Chris Weidman, because the promotion's middleweight champion didn't have a big enough name.

Then came a "Dragon" slaying over Fourth of July Weekend and suddenly "Bones" (via Sherdog) is all over it.

"Oh, man, I think that would be awesome. I would absolutely jump at the opportunity to have a super fight with Chris Weidman. I respect him a lot as a person and as a champion, and I think that that fight would make great sales -- absolutely."

Sorry, Johnny.

While he's no stranger to fighting middleweights, any talk of crossing over will have to wait. Jones still has to get through Daniel Cormier at UFC 178 and even if he does, Alexander Gustafsson will be waiting in the wings. Weidman, meanwhile, has his own obstacle ahead of him in the form of Vitor Belfort at UFC 181.

And "super fights" -- historically -- typically fail to materialize.
