The Los Angeles Lakers have
waited nearly three months to hire a new coach, and they're apparently making
Byron Scott wait a few more days. Byron Scott has accepted terms to become the
next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. According to ESPN, Scott's deal is
for four years and $17 million with the Lakers holding the option for the final
year. Scott played 11 of his 14 years in the NBA as a Los Angeles Laker,
winning three championships during the Showtime era spearheaded by Magic
Johnson. Scott amassed 15,077 points and 2,279 assists in his decorated career.
Scott last coached with the Cavaliers in Cleveland, where he was relieved of his duties in April 2013. He guided the New Jersey to the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs respectively.
